I could see on my WAN Router, providing the DHCP service, which the printer was asking for and that it got allocated its usual IP Address. This told me that my MF8340Cdn had lost its network configuration! Except for the network settings in the "System Manager Data List" displaying "IP Address: 169.254.137.209 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0 - Gateway Address: 0.0.0.0". As described in chapter 2-3 step 9 "Restart the machine" I then turned off the machine and waited for 10 seconds before turning it on again (maybe I should have pressed the key, as described in the note below, - but when I read that, I already had turned off the printer).Įverything looked Ok, - also checking the new firmware versions as described in chapter 2-4 was Ok.
The actual firmware upgrade using LAN Connection took several minutes upgrading firmware 1, 2 and 3 (no firmware 4 in my printer) ending as described in chapter 2-3 step 8 "Firmware update is complete. I would also recommend printing the "System Manager Data List" as it provides the network configuration settings). Unpacking the files and following the accompanying "UST Operation Guide wm.pdf" didn't give any problems (I would though recommend documenting the existing settings before upgrading, as described in chapter 2-4 specifying how to print the "User Data List". I provided the printer serial-no as required and downloaded the v10.55 firmware upgrade. It didn't, - and I still don't know whether the problem lies in the upgrade procedure or in the firmware upgrade itself.
